90s Type Poster Project
By Quentin Labbett
For this project we had to recreate either an old or a new poster for an album that influenced us. I decided to do a poster of an artist who has had a big impact on me. He goes by the name of $crim and the poster I designed one was from of his solo projects.
His originally album cover was mainly black and white so I decided that I wanted to do the same.
With the new album he made he wanted to try and create a country like rap album. So I included a cowboy hat over one of the ripped pieces of paper that had name  on them.
I then decided to add the release date and the New Orleans press because he is originally from New Orleans.
I then slowly added burn marks and different layers of text to make the paper look more worn out and used. I also added a skeleton hand over the dollar sign because the main part of the original album cover.
Then I added some more texture to the paper and I also added some to the release date.
I also decided to add more smoke on top of both the release date and the New Orleans paper but I didn't quite like how it fully looked. So I decided to use the smoke from the background to cover over the pieces of paper instead.
I blended the smoke over more to get the final look of the poster for the album.
For the cd cover I did a a dark graveyard theme. I decided to actually incorporate the artist himself in the CD cover because he used a lot of different pictures of himself to promote the album. I finally decided to warp and stretch the text over the ground so that it blended in with the various tombstones.
I put a glow look on the back tombstones and then decided it was finished.
